Minister demands good standards from fuel service providers
As one way of promoting standardization, Minister of energy Ibrahim Matola has inspected fuel selling points in Mangochi district.
Speaking with Radio Islam after the tour Matola said Mangochi is one of the busiest districts with a lot of tourism and business activities taking place daily, therefore it was necessary to make sure that selling points have enough fuel.
The minister of energy commended the services being provided saying every filling station has enough fuel and good consumer care.
“Government is making sure the country does not experience fuel shortage,” Matola
In her remarks Fitina Khonje consumer affairs and public relations manager at Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority MERA said was very important to inspect fuel service providers to see if they meet needs and demands of customers
Khonje said MERA has put in place restrictions on customers buying fuel from the pump using jelicans to avoid smuggling to neighbouring countries and selling at higher prices leaving the country dry
