MCP exposes MEC’s voters’ roll ghosts

President of Malawi Congress Party Dr Lazarus Chakwera has said there are ghost voters in voters roll of Malawi Electoral Commission MEC.

Speaking at a press briefing Chakwera said there investigation has found that in 2019 elections there were 7000 ghost voters and many are being created for the fresh election.

He said has ordered MCP lawyers to sue the matter to court and directed its experts to consult MEC on the same.

Chakwera said the voters and MEDF COVID-19 beneficiaries rolls should be audited and cleaned.

“Votes of malawians are not protected because MEC is not doing much to safeguard them,” he said

Chakwera warned those creating the ghost voters and MEDF beneficiaries to stop because their time is up.

Then MCP IT expert Daud Suleman gave details of the scam and mentioned people who were born in the 1800’s but are in voters and NRB rolls.
