MEHN Advises Stakeholders to Monitor Health Sector Budget

Malawi Health Equity Network MEHN has advised stakeholders to closely monitor the allocation made to health sector in the 2019 to 2020 national budget.

MEHN executive director George Jobe has said this a day after minister of finance Joseph Mwanamveka presented the budget in parliament.

“This year’s budget will be easy to follow because it has been simplified,” said Jobe

He commended the minister for taking into consideration all ideas that MEHN had proposed during the pre-budget consultation meetings.

The health sector has been awarded 101 billion kwacha, with 25 billion kwacha for procurement of drugs, 1.5 billion kwacha for purchase and maintenance of medical equipment and 5.8 billion kwacha for procurement of ambulance among others in public hospitals.
