Midwives Council of Malawi calls for training of many health workers

National organisation of Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi NONM says there is need for Malawi to train many health workers if the country is to be a health nation.

President of the organisation Jonathan Gama made the remarks during a two day workshop for Nurses and midwives which started yesterday at capital hotel in Lilongwe.

The workshop was organised by National Organisation of Nurses and Midwives NONM in conjunction with Voluntary Services Organisations VSO’s.

Its theme is “Valuing the Role of Nurses and Midwives and Voluntary Services Organisations in health service delivery in Malawi”

Speaking at the same function Presidential Advisor on Non Governmental Organisations Mavuto Bamusi said Malawi must fight corruption if it is to have an improved health service delivery.

Bamusi added that a better health service delivery is achieved if all key players in the health sector are accountable when executing their job.
