NICE launches ‘Democracy Tested’ book
Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) chairperson Justice Dr Chifundo Kachele has described the launch of ‘Democracy Tested’ book by NICE Trust as an important publication in Malawi’s quest to consolidate democracy.
Dr Kachale said this during launch of the democracy tested book by the National Initiative for Civic Education NICE public trust and the Institute for Policy Initiative IPI.
Kachale said the book will give opportunity for various commentators to pause and reflect upon one of the most critical constitutive acts of a democracy which is Elections.
He also said the richness of commentaries from authors with diverse education backgrounds reflects the depth of wisdom and experience they each bring to the table adding it is the culture of discourse and discussion is at the very root of a thriving democracy.
He then highly recommended the book and asked others to seize the opportunity created by this publication to also commit their thoughts and reflections to writing in order to enrich the country’s democracy.
The book is a collection of writings from a diverse group of authors ranging from academicians of various disciplines such as political science, law, economics, philosophy and media, gender, legal practitioners, communications and media practitioners, digital development experts and democracy activists.
