NPC orients media on Malawi 2063

National Planning Commission NPC says worth creation is the only way to rescue Malawi in times of disasters.

Speaking during a virtual workshop for journalists, NPC Executive Director, Thomas Munthali, said the country continues to face challenges in times of disasters due to its reliance on donor funding.

According to Munthali if the country was self-sufficient it would have easily replaced some of the damaged infrastructures due to two cyclones that affected the country.

He cited the damaged Kachipila dam which is dependent on World Bank for its reconstruction.

The NPC director then called upon all Malawians to play their part in building a nation that everyone will be proud of.

In his remarks, UNPD country representative, Shigeki Komatsubara, commended NPC for organizing the workshop.

He said this has helped journalists to understand contents of Malawi 2063 first 10 years Implementation Plan, Covid-19 social economic recovery plan and secondary cities plan.
