RAILA Holds Discussions with Muslims in Northern Region

Radio Islam Listeners Association (RAILA) has held discussions with Muslims in the northern region of Malawi.

During the meeting over the weekend in Mzuzu the participants discussed various issues that affect the Muslim community.

Speaking RAILA president Yusuf James Manpower said was impressed with the turn up and described it as fruitful because participants freely contributed to every topic under discussion

During the meeting, the president said RAILA is intending to award its members as well as Radio Islam employees as one way of motivating both parties.

“The award ceremony is scheduled to take place in December therefore all  members of the association across the country should patronize the historical event,” Manpower said

However, he said the association is facing numerous challenges in its daily operations.

Manpower cited lack of financial support hence urging members to contribute to the group to grow and move forward.

He also mentioned lack of transportation as another set back towards the association’s effort to reach out to some areas.

According to RAILA president, once the association is registered, it will be able to effectively implement various projects in sectors of education, health, environment conservation, relief and dawah among others which are in line with its objectives.

In his remarks, RAILA regional governor for the north, Mtwiche Bin Masikini commended President of the association and his team for the meeting stressing it was a motivation to members.

Mtwiche said “we are ready to implement what they discussed for the growth of the association in the northern region.”

The meeting was also attended by some members from Islamic organizations and dawah groups operating in the northern region.
