US army trains Malawi military

United States government says will continue helping Malawi in various ways.

This was said in Lilongwe during the opening of a training organised by US Army Africa whose objective was to train Malawi’s military personnel in peace keeping and disaster relief.

Speaking in an interview with USAFRICOM which represents the Military from both US and Africa its deputy Commander Brigadier Gen Jensen said they want to train many military personnel on how best they can help Malawians during hard times.

“It is a responsibility of the military to help people during disasters,”said Jensen.

He commended Malawi government for sending its troops to Sudan and DR Congo for peace keeping saying has shown how committed the country is in making sure that people are living peacefully.

Speaking on behalf of Malawi government Defence Force Commander General Griffin Spoon Phiri said the Military is very significant during disasters.

The training consists of one week of class room based academics, one week of a command post training exercise and table top exercise.
