Zomba City changes its leaders

Zomba district council has replaced all duty bearers through the election which took place during the full council meeting.

Councilor Evance Namakoka of Matiya ward in Zomba Chisi constituency was elected as chair defeating councilors John Milambe of Naming’azi ward by 16 to 6 votes.

Councilor Chikumbutso Likandawe of Namilongo ward in Zomba Changalume constituency was voted deputy chair defeating councilor angella Unyolo by 14 votes to 7.

Delivering his acceptance speech councilor Namakoka said he wants to have a council which is financially stable.

“I will ensure that the depot is constructed at Jali to be used in collecting revenue for the council” promised the new chairperson.

Namakoka emphasized that for the council to develop there is need for the councilors to work together with Members of Parliament and the secretariat.
