CDEDI asks president, cabinet to cut salaries by 50 percent

Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives CDEDI has asked president Chakwera and his cabinet to cut their salaries by 50 percent as part of austerity measures

Speaking during a press briefing in Lilongwe CDEDI executive director Silvestor Namiwa asked Chakwera to trim his cabinet and number of advisors

Namiwa said the president should learn to delegate others while he stays in office to figure out how his government can protect vulnerable and marginalized Malawians using resources accrued from the announced cost-cutting measures

Addressing members of the press the CDEDI director expressed concern over Chakwera’s continued appetite for travel
