Civil servants strike postponed

Civil Servants Trade Union and Teachers Union of Malawi have postponed the strike which civil servants were expected to hold from Monday 9th January

The strike has been postponed after government has accepted to review conditions of service including salaries and other benefits for all civil servants effective 1st April this year based on financial analysis to be conducted

This has been announced after a meeting among civil servants Trade Union CSTU, Teachers Union of Malawi TUM and Government Negotiating Team GNT after civil servants threatened to hold the strike next week

A memorandum of understanding signed by GNT chairperson Charles Kalemba, CSTU general secretary Madalitso Njolomole and TUM general secretary Charles Kumchenga says the two parties will continue engaging in negotiations regarding improvement of working conditions for civil servants.
