Court adjourns MLS judicial review case on political parties funding

High court in Blantyre has adjourned to a later date a case in which Malawi Law Society MLS is seeking judicial review on the disclosure of political party funding by registrar of political parties.

In the preliminary hearing of the case before high court judge Mike Tembo, chief state advocate Neverson Chisiza prayed for the court to dismiss the case on the ground that the applicant failed to meet required procedures when asking for information from Registrar of political parties.

In his presentation MLS president Patrick Mpaka told the court that the requirement to pay fees in order to get information from the registrar general’s office is invalid and unconstitutional.

Patrick Mpaka explained to Taim Jimmy what transpired in the court.
