Dowa Turn off road bock shut down

Dowa turn- off road block in the area of Traditional Authority Mkukula on Lilongwe- Kasungu m1 road has been shut down.

According to the statement signed by Mr Chalera from Central Region Police headquarters the suspension is with effect from Sunday 1st May, 2016.

“The community will be served by a Police Unit but with no road checks,” says the document.

The suspension of Dowa turn off road block is a heavy blow because m1 Lilongwe- Kasungu road has remained with one road block at Bua in Kasungu district.

Dowa district hosts refugees and asylum seekers from Burundi, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo, Somalia and Ethiopia who use this road to and from Dzaleka Refugee Camp.

Communities of T/A Mkukula have expressed worry over the suspension of the road block as they are afraid of insecurity in the area.
