Elections Case Lawyers Counter Argue on MCP Evidence Amendment

Lawyers in elections case have counter argued on the application to amend sworn statements of witnesses of Malawi Congress Party MCP.

Lawyers of the respondents objected the applications saying amendment time ended in August.

Earlier lawyers of MCP accepted the application by president Mutharika’s lawyers to use the documents about printing of ballot papers in Dubai to cross examine the party’s second witness Richard Chapweteka.

However, lawyers of UTM denied arguing that the amendment will affect their evidence because the party’s witnesses were already cross examined.

Lawyers of MCP accepted to use the documents but lawyers of UTM objected.

But lawyer of Mutharika Frank Mbeta said evidence of UTM witnesses cannot be prejudiced

Then Judge Hilley Potani adjourned the case saying the court will make its ruling on the matter Monday next week.
