Environmentalist Calls For Long Lasting Solution to Pollution in Cities

Environmental analyst has urged government and stakeholders in environmental conservation to come up with long lasting solution to pollution in cities.

Senior lecturer at the Polytechnic, in the department of environmental Science Save Kumwenda made the remarks following department of environment’s decision to close Suncrest Creameries Limited for improper waste management.

According to the letter that Radio Islam has seen from director of environment Taonga Mbale-Luka to the company, government has ordered for a closure as it has contravened section 76 of environment Management Act.

Commenting, environmental analyst save Kumwenda said while government has done a good move there is still need to put in place long lasting solution to the problem of pollution.

Kumwenda said “is of the view that government and stakeholders should put in place personnel who will be monitoring companies, markets and other institutions on how they are disposing their wastes.”
