Finance Ministry launches Domestic Revenue Mobilization Strategy

Ministry of finance says the newly launched Domestic Revenue Mobilization Strategy will help to improve the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the country’s revenue collection.

According to the ministry the five year strategy which will run from 2021-2026 will see the country realizing 5% of the country’s Growth Domestic Products GDP.

Presenting his speech minister of finance Felix Mlusu said the strategy will help eliminate redundant tax exemptions while also considering incentives that support national gains.

Mlusu said the strategy will enhance tax compliance culture among all citizens through enforcement, simplifying tax laws, developing professionalism, skills and tools for tax policy analysis and reforms for tax administration among others.

“The strategy is being launched at a time when covid-19 has affected implementation of planned activities for all hence the time to make the tax system more efficient and transparent when government requires resources for the necessary services to the citizens,” Mlusu

He then encouraged key stakeholders to cooperate with government in sustaining efforts necessary to achieve the desired goals.
