Government Opens Tele-centres In Machinga

Ministry of information, civic education and communications technology has opened three tele-centres in three constituencies in Machinga district.

Speaking during the launch Minister responsible Mark Botomani said 65 million kwacha tele-centres are Namasika in Machinga North East, Mbenjere in North and Liwonde in Machinga Likwenu constituency.

Botomani says “tele-centres are accelerating ICT access to rural masses as they are helping people to access needful information, communicate easily and upgrade their skills.”

In his remarks, Member of Parliament for Machinga North East Ajilu Kalitendere expressed happiness over the tele-centre because it will enable communities to access necessary information of various sector.

“It is of great pleasure to see the building opened since it was constructed in 2012,” Kalitendere

Concurring with him Member of Parliament for Likwenu constituency who is also Minister of Justice and constitutional affairs Bright Nsaka said ” tele-centres will improve living standards of people in Machinga since they will be able to acquire and store vital information.”

Meanwhile, Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority MACRA Director General Godfrey Itaye has advised communities to care for such important facilities because they will assist them in many ways.

Itaye however said that this internet is very cheap to access and MACRA has remained with 3rd phase to complete the job.
