Malawi holds ant-corruption conference

President Professor Peter Mutharika has said all Malawians must engage in the fight against corruption.

Speaking when closing the two day ant-corruption conference in Lilongwe Mutharika said collective will is needed to curb the evil.

“People spoke of political will but that alone cannot end the malpractice as corruption is happening all sectors,” said Mutharika.

He added that will never interfere in the work of Ant corruption bureau as some people believe.

Mutharika therefore urged all stakeholders to work together to cultivate a culture of integrity.

In her remarks, Patricia Scotland secretary general for commonwealth says corruption is the cancer that eats the economy of the country.

“There is a need to fight corruption together with all stakeholders such as NGO’s and opposition political parties,” said Scotland

She said commonwealth will make strategies that will help to fight corruption in the commonwealth countries.

“In May Malawi will host international conference on ant-corruption,” said Scotland.
