Malawi Soldiers Killed in DRC

Four soldiers of Malawi Defence Force MDF have died in Democratic Republic of Congo DRC where they were in a peace keeping mission.

MDF spokesperson Major Paul Chiphwanya has confirmed to Radio Islam.

Chiphwanya said the soldiers are Sergeant Steven Kambalame, Private Chauncy Chitete, Private Benjamin Nsongela and Private Simplex Taferakaso.

“It is true that Malawi soldiers died in DRC yesterday on 14 November, 2018,” Chiphwanya said.

He added that they were in combat with fellow colleagues from TanZania, South Africa and DRC when they met heavy resistance from armed groups.

Chiphwanya said there is a procedure which is followed before repatriating the bodies to Malawi.
