Stop Pull Him Down Syndrome – MAM

Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) has said the ‘pull him down syndrome’ is greatly costing the lives of Muslims in the country.

National Chairman for MAM, Sheikh Idrissa Muhammad, said this when he distributed bags of maize to sheikhs around Blantyre.

Sheikh Muhammad said the infighting rocking in the organization has negatively affected the Muslim community especially in the rural areas.

He explained that there are few individual who are trying their level best to disrupt MAM’s operations in order to achieve their person agenda.

“There are few greedy figures who are deliberately disturbing MAM operations with an aim of punishing me, but it’s not Idrissa who is suffering, its poor Muslims especially in the rural areas,” Sheikh Muhammad said.

He said among others MAM has this year failed to meet the date line to secure Islamic Development Bank scholarships for needy students because the offices were closed by few disgruntled persons.

“Every year MAM facilitates Islamic Development Bank (IDB) scholarships to Turkey, Malaysia and other countries but we have failed to make it because the offices were closed by few greedy individuals,’ he explained.

He added that during the same period MAM failed to make a report to National Democratic Institute (NDI) a development which led to the suspension of the annual grand of 50, 000 US Dollars.

The Chairman explained that these greedy individuals are doing this in order to let the leadership of MAM down.

“I am saying these for all Muslims in the country to know what consequences are they facing because of the few exasperated individuals. Let me also tell you Sheikhs from Blantyre that the so called concerned are doing this to see me failing so that they should easily take over the mantle during the forthcoming elections, but Alhamdulillah that Allah has always been on side,” Sheikh Muhammad said.

On this note Sheikh Muhammad said during his tenure he has managed to secure financial assistance from several organizations in Saud Arabia, Kuwait, Dubai and Qatar for development projects in various parts of the country.
“Since January last year to date, I have constructed more than twenty masjids throughout the country and it’s my prayer that by the end of April this year more than hundred masjids should be completed.”

“Go to Chowe Primary School in Mangochi district, we are constructing six classrooms, head teacher’s office and toilets a thing which was not there before,” the chairman added.
He however said it very pleased to note that donor partners are satisfied with the progress of these projects and have pledged for more support.

“And what you are supposed to know is that even I leave MAM today these organizations will go out with me because the agreement is between me and them and not MAM as an organization,” he challenged.

He therefore assured the Muslims in the country that he will continue with his effort transforming Muslims for the better.

Sheikh Muhammad however asked sheikhs in the country to support MAM in development agenda which have been dormant for the past 25 years.

Commenting on the maize distribution Sheikh Muhammad said he felt that sheikhs in country are equally affected by hunger hence the donations.

“You have been hearing from the media that MAM is distributing maize to hunger stricken families so I knew that sheikhs are not exempted in this crisis that why I am giving each one of you a bag of maize,” Sheikh Muhammad told the gathering.

He also asked the sheikhs to continue praying to Allah that donor partners should continue with their support.

Beneficiaries were identified from committee members of various masjids in Blantyre city.
