Muslim Association of Malawi (MAM) says will continue providing masjids to rural areas.

Secretary General of MAM, Alhaji Twaibu Lawe, said this when he officially opened a new masjid at Chidothi Village Traditional Authority Mkula in Machinga district.

Speaking to the gathering, Alhaji Lawe said MAM will make sure that it is providing social services to all Malawians especially in remotest areas.

Alhaji Lawe added that “apart from the construction of masjids, MAM has also endeavoured in the establishment of madrassas so that they provide basic Islamic knowledge to young Muslims.”

In his remarks, Member of Parliament for Machinga Likwenu, Davie Lali, commended MAM for considering people of his area with a new masjid.

“I plead with MAM to open a madrassa at the masjid so that children should be able to learn more on principles of Islam,” appealed Lali

The masjid was constructed with financial support from Dubai Charity Association of the United Arab Emirates.

On his part Executive Director of Islamic Commission for Justice and Freedom
(ICJF), Abdulrahman Ajasi, advised Muslims in the district to go and register in large numbers in the forth coming voter registration exercise scheduled to start on Monday October 8, 2018.
