National registration equipment stolen in Chiradzulu

A Biometric Registration Kit containing National Registration Bureau NRB’s National Identity Card registration equipment has been stolen at Providence Industrial Mission PIM in Chiradzulu.

Officer In-Charge for Chiradzulu Police, Kenneth Semani, has confirmed the theft.

Semani incident happened on Tuesday after a camera of one of NRB Clerks ran out of power and arrangements were made with Sergeant Teputepu of PIM Police Unit to charge it at his house during the night.

“At around 1:00 am, unknown people broke the sitting room window and stole the camera as Adson and Teputepu were asleep,” said Semani

According to the police, no one has been arrested in connection to the robbery.

Assistant District Registrar for Chiradzulu, Clara Banda, also confirmed the robbery.

“The Biometric Registration Kit consists of a fixed camera, laptop, printer, power bank, finger print scanner and document scanner,” said Banda.

Currently, the registration exercise is still in progress in the district using equipment from additional equipment from other clerks.
