MAM calls for cooperation in masjid construction project

Muslim Association of Malawi MAM has underscored the need for collaboration among Muslim communities in the construction project of masjids across the country.

The remarks were made during the official opening of Mzumara masjid at Mzumara village in the area of Traditional Authority Mphonde in Nkhota-kota district.

According to MAM’s project officer Faruku Chidaya the initiative can be effective if there is community participation in the implementation exercise.

“Muslim Association of Malawi MAM with funding from Dubai Charity organisation is constructing masjids across the country,” said Chidaya.

He further said Muslim communities are urged to contribute sand and bricks for the commencement of a masjid construction in their area.

In his speech MAM’s executive member Ussein Mbowani who was the guest of honour at the ceremony advised Muslims in the area to use the masjid for the intended purpose.

Commenting on the development chairperson for MAM in Nkhotakota Itimu Inani hailed the association for the initiative.

Inani advised Muslims to be courageous in disseminating the word of God.
