Man slapped 9 years imprisonment with hard labor for wounding daughter.

Chisenjere first grade magistrate court in Blantyre has sentenced a 37 year old man to 9 years imprisonment with hard labor for wounding his daughter.

According to Chileka police public relations officer Peter Mchiza the man tied hands and legs of his 9 year old daughter before locking her in the house for refusing to wash dishes.

Mchiza said the convict, Feston Maduka later poured hot water on the girl resulting to burn wounds in both legs and arms.

The girl was rushed to the hospital and neighbor reported the man to police who arrested the convict.

The state pleaded for stiffer punishment saying that young children are prone to victimization due to irresponsible parenthood.

His worship Chimombo concurred with the state saying the convict behavior is very dangerous hence needed to be dealt with accordingly to deter would be offenders.

Mchiza said, “we are very much appreciative to court because this is a very good gesture. It shows that we are indeed working together in trying to preserve the rights of children”

The convict Feston Maduka hails from Chatha village T/A Kapeni in Blantyre district.
