MP fails to submit Evidence on Minister’s Global Fund Theft

Member of Parliament for Blantyre City South East constituency Sameer Suleman has failed to submit evidence that Minister of finance Simplex Chithyola Banda stole money of Global Fund

Suleman made the allegations while commenting on the economic recovery report which the minister of finance presented following the devaluation of the kwacha by 44 percent

However his statement irked the leader of house who pleaded with deputy speaker of parliament to demand evidence from Suleman

Madalitso Kazombo ordered Suleman to present the evidence by 2 o’clock on Wednesday but he failed to do so

When parliament resumed in the afternoon chief whip Jacob Hara asked the second deputy speaker Aisha Mambo Adams to inform the national assembly on the matter before proceeding with the deliberations

Second deputy speaker Aisha Mambo Adams announced that Suleman did not submit the evidence as ordered by first deputy speaker Madalitso Kazombo Tuesday

Adams said the sentiments which Suleman made should be removed from parliament records

Reacting to the announcement chief whip Jacob Hara asked the business committee to meet on the matter to make its pronouncement because Suleman has been making such allegations several times without providing evidence

After the meeting Adams declared that the business committee ruled that the parliamentary deliberations should continue.

Thereafter chairperson of parliamentary committee on natural resources presented a report on refunding  6.5 billion kwacha to EGENCO among others.
