MWO Calls on Muslim Women Groups to Cooperate

Muslim Women Organisation MWO has called on Muslim women groups in the country to unite

MWO chairlady in the central region Aisha Mgaye made the call during Dawa of various Muslim women groups which was held by ARUBA SISTERS of Area 25 at Msungwi Masjid in Lilongwe.

Mgaye said presence of MWO at the function symbolizes the unity between the organisation and other Muslim women groups,” Mgaye said

She asked all Muslim groups to engage MWO in their activities so that they can work together in uplifting Islam in Malawi.

The Dawa which started on 30th to 31st August was held in order to bring together various Muslim women groups in Lilongwe city to discuss issues concerning Islam.

Speaking during the ceremony Mgaye said MWO is the mother body of all Muslim Women groups in the country hence the need to be involved in such activities

“This will encourage unity and peace among various groups so that they should be working together in spreading Islamic messages to various places,” Mgaye said

In her remarks vice chairlady of Aruba Sisters Khadija Yaseen said they thought it wise to conduct such a big ceremony after being quite for a long time.

According to Yaseen their aim is to share and remind one another about Islamic teachings such as dressing code and behaviour.

She said “Aruba sisters as a charitable organisation encourages supporting each other in several crisis.”

Yaseen then welcomed the recommendations from MWO regarding the ceremony.

Commenting one of the participants Zubeida Mussa encouraged women to send children to both school for them to become productive citizens.

Mussa who is a teacher said women must learn different things in order to defend themselves and Islam.

Another participant Patricia Matola of Nambuma Muslim women organisation said the function was fruitful because “I has learnt a lot especially on how she can improve Islamic well being and pledged to teach fellow members.”

The Dawa which brought together several Muslim women groups in the capital city was held under the theme Tikonzeke nthawi yatha.
