Number of hungry Malawians doubles

Department of Natural Disaster and Preparedness says the number of people who are facing food shortages has now doubled because of floods the country experienced.
Last year Malawi Vulnerability Assessment Committee said 19 districts would face food shortage.
Speaking with radio Islam Principle secretary in the department Dr Paul Chiunguzeni said the hunger situation is worse than predicted in 2014.
“It is unpredictable if this problem will be solved,” emphasised Chiunguzeni
He has therefore asked Malawians to plant crops that can mature earlier.
