Parliament Asks Government to Construct Good Roads

Member of Parliament for Lilongwe City South West constituency, Honorable Nancy Tembo has asked government to make sure that the roads being constructed and repaired are of good standard.

Speaking in the national assembly Tembo said was worrisome that some of the roads get damaged within a short period of time of use.

She said that is delaying development because the country looses a lot of money constructing and renovating them.

“Government and the ministry responsible should be hiring contractors that can do good job,” Tembo said

In his remarks, Minister of foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Francis Kasaila responding on behalf of Minister of Transport and Public Works Ralph Jooma said it was the work of both government and members of Parliament to ensure the roads are of quality.

Kasaira suggested that the councils should also hire private consultants and engineers.
