Police Fires Tear Gas On Protesters

Police has fired teargas to disperse protestors in Blantyre city.

According to our reporter the demonstrators were going to DPP headquarters Sunnyside when they met the police who had lined up near Mudi River.

Thereafter the protesters converged at Dlamea house.

The demonstrations which were supposed to take place yesterday were postponed after DPP cadets smashed a car of one of the senior officials of Human Rights Defenders Coalition HRDC and beat the demonstrators.

Police intervened and arrested some of the protestors and leaders of the demonstrations in Blantyre declared that they will be held today.

The demonstrators demand the resignation of chairperson of Malawi Electoral Commission Justice Dr Jane Ansah and all commissioners.

In Lilongwe the demonstrations which begun on 4th July have ended on 5th July.
