Health ambassador Maziko Matemba says failure to put in place strict measures against the spread of COVID 19 is
fuelling the rise of cases in the country.
Matemba’s remarks come following the recent update of rise in Corona virus cases from 81 to 101 as announced by the minister of health in Mzuzu on Monday.
Speaking in a telephone interview Matemba said people are not adhering to prevention measures set by the ministry of health which is unfortunate.
On repatriation of Malawians from South Africa, Matemba said “the citizens have the right to return to their home country but he urged the ministry to provide enough resources to ensure that the spread of the disease among the returnees is contained.”
The health ambassador hailed ministry of health for setting Kamuzu stadium as an isolation center saying the country’s hospitals alone cannot accommodate all people on self quarantine.
