Tight security at Malawi parliament

There is tight security at parliament after the deliberations were adjourned earlier yesterday because chairperson of Human Rights Defenders Coalition Timothy Mtambo and his deputy Gift Trapence had entered.

Only parliament employees and journalists are allowed as visitors in the chamber.

The security officers are checking now and then the visitors to ensure that only those with accredited identity cards are attending the deliberations.

However, the members debate the remarks which Mtambo made saying the members of parliament are childish.

Minister of Information Mark Botomani incited the debate but the speaker said “the issue was resolved adding the legislators are honorables.”

Concurring with Botomani, MP for Mulanje Bale demanded an apology from Mtambo.

Addressing the parliamentarians the speaker Catherine Gotani Hara said the business committee had made some amendments such as adding a supplementary order paper.

Then Minister of Finance, Economic Planning and development presented the auditor general’s report which was referred to public accounts committee of parliament
