UTM Party To Conduct Primary Elections In January

UTM Party says will conduct primary elections on 3rd January 2019 for all aspiring candidates across the country.

According the statement made available to Radio Islam, all candidates aspiring for the position of a Member Parliament will be required to pay K50, 000.00 while councillors will pay K20, 000.00.

But commenting on the matter UTM party Spokesperson Dr Joseph Chidanti Malunga, said the party has the capacity to hold the elections in a single day.

“The fee is meant for candidates to show commitment to the party,” stressed Malunga.

The primary elections will be held weeks after UTM Party held its convention in December in capital city Lilongwe.

Vice President of Malawi Dr Saulos Chilima was elected unopposed president of the party at the convention.
