Voting in Mtiya Ward By-elections in Progress

Voting for ward councilor in by-elections in Mtiya ward is underway

Five candidates of MCP, DPP, UDF, UTM and Umodzi parties are contesting in the elections which has over 6000 voters

Speaking after the polling centres opened chairperson of Malawi Electoral commission Justice Chifundo Kachale said the voting starting on a good note and expected the voters to go in large number to cast their ballot

Kachale said he expected a 30 to 40 percent voter turn out as the day progresses because in the morning few people went to vote

According to Chief Elections Officer Andrew Mpesi the commission registered 241 new voters of which 119 are male and 122 female from 20 to 26 August
