ZCC & CSO’s Sign MOU

As one way of improving service delivery, Zomba City Council has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with civil society organizations operating in the city.

Speaking before the signing ceremony, Chief Executive Officer for the council, Charles Thombozi, said partnering with the CSOs is a milestone as it will enhance better service delivery and monitoring of activities undertaken by both parties.

Thombozi, however admitted that there are some terms they did not thoroughly consult like the commitment fee for the NGOs, but was quick to say that “we will engage the stakeholders before it is effected.”

On his part, Chairperson of Zomba Civil Society Network; Newton Sindo hailed the partnership saying it will enhance collaboration and coordination between the council and the CSOs.

On the issue of the fees, Sindo expressed their reservations because they wanted to be consulted before coming up with the amount of fees.

Among other factors considered the MOU are the registration of all NGOs operating in the city, exchange of information, joint resource mobilization and monitoring of activities which are carried out in the city.
