Court Extends Elections Case Cross Examination Time

Constitutional court has extended the time of cross examining witnesses in presidential elections case every day.

According to judges the lawyers will be cross examining the witness until 6 o’clock not five o’clock.

The judges said they had made such decision in order to speed up the case.

Then lawyer of president professor peter Mutharika Madalitso M’meta started cross examining MCP witness Peter Lackson Chimangeni.

M’meta asked the court to introduce new documents to use in cross examining Chimangeni.

However, lawyers of MCP objected the documents saying “the court had ruled against bringing new documents.”

After hearing the arguments the court gave permission to Mutharika’s lawyers to use the documents.

After M’meta finished cross examining Chimangeni he handed over to another lawyer to cross examine MCP’s second witness Richard Chapweteka who was already cross examined.

Chapweteka will be cross examined again after the court granted permission to the lawyers who applied to cross examine him on packing list of ballot papers in Dubai as he had observed the printing exercise.
