Malawi hosts international financial & development meetings
Reserve Bank of Malawi RBM says members of Alliance for financial inclusion AFI from across the globe are meeting in for this year’s consumer empowerment and market conduct
Registrar of financial institutions Dr Wilson Banda says the event has brought together over 140 international delegates from over 73 countries
Banda says AFI is owned and led by central banks, ministries of finance with the objective of economic development at regional and international level
The focus of this meeting is on sharing knowledge and experiences on how member countries can adopt financial technology, innovation, consumer protection and health policies as a gateway to improved financial inclusion and economic development of the citizens
Meanwhile, Malawi is hosting the Nacala development meeting where delegates from Mozambique and Zambia are in attendance
The meeting aims at facilitating the provision of safe, cost effective and efficient movement of goods, improve infrastructure as well as collaborate on transport and trade facilitation among other development issues
Secretary for transport Hastings Chiudzu says Malawi is pleased to host the meeting through which the three countries develop and implement legal frameworks, policies and programs that will facilitate trade
