Malawi Launches Counter Terrorism Strategy

Malawi’s National Counter Terrorism – Violent Extremism Strategy and National Plan of Action Against Trafficking in Persons (2023-2028 has been launched

The two documents will provide an integral approach for all stakeholders in order to achieve the vision of creating a Malawi free from terrorism and trafficking in persons.

Speaking during the launch Minister of Homeland Security, Kenneth Zikhale Ng’oma called for joint efforts from various stakeholders in the fight against human trafficking and terrorism in the country.

Zikhale emphasized that in order to achieve these strategies, there is need for various stakeholders to join the government in its continued efforts to ensuring sustainable peace and security

Additionally, the Minister highlighted the critical role of Media in sensitizing the public on negative effects of these crimes and their adverse impact on national development.

In her remarks, United Nations Resident Coordinator Rebecca Adda-Dontoh reiterated their commitment in supporting Malawi government in combating trafficking in persons and its links to organized crimes.
