MEC to Hold By-elections in Lilongwe South constituency

Malawi Electoral Commission MEC has said will hold by-elections in Lilongwe South constituency on 5^th November, 2019.

MEC postponed parliamentary elections in the constituency following the death of one of the candidates in the run-up to the 21^st May tripartite polls.

Chief elections officer Sam Alfandika says the commission had initially planned to conduct a by-election in that constituency on 9^th July but was  put on hold due to lack of funding.

“In preparation for the by-election the commission shall hold a stakeholders meeting on 3^rd October in the constituency where it shall provide all information about the elections process and release the electoral calendar,”said Alfandika
