Mehboob Memorial Trust Constructs Magnificent Academy in Mangochi

People in Mangochi have hailed Mehboob memorial trust for its continued efforts towards promoting education in the district.

This follows the newly constructed education facility in the area of Traditional Authority Makanjira in the district.

The facility which is called Makanjira boys and girls’ academy is providing free education for both Islamic and secular studies.

According to some of the parents Radio Islam interviewed in Makanjira, the facility has come at the right time when the area is in need of both secular and Islamic education.

Yusuf Ilali and Aminah Misi said the school will help to promote the practice of Islam in the area which was going down due to lack of knowledge among the people.

Afia Ali And Mariam Ali commended the idea of separating the girls from the boys saying” it will help curb cases of early pregnancies in the area.”

Concurring with his people, T/A Makanjira applauded the design of the school saying it is beautifying the area.

He adds that the school is best because it is promoting both Islamic and secular studies which will help the development of the area.

Deputy director of Mehboob memorial centre Tindiko Ajusa, said the organization is doing most of its operations in Mangochi because the district is still lagging behind on education.

“Most of the parents are failing to support their children’s education due to poverty hence their provision of free education at the school,” said Ajusa

He also said the school provides the learners with porridge and lunch to ensure their concentration in class.

Meanwhile, Tindiko has  asked other organizations to assist in promoting education in the district adding his organizations is still receiving request for construction of boarding schools.

The first phase of the Makanjira Academy project which has seen the construction of 18 classrooms and a guest house has cost Mehboob memorial 350 million kwacha.

The organization is also expected to construct boys and girls’ hostels, a masjid, a clinic as well as a secondary school and upon completion, money amounting to 1 billion kwacha is expected to be used.

Apart from the newly constructed facility, Mehboob memorial Centre is also operating two schools one in Mangochi and another in Ntcheu and is also supporting needy students with school fees under Ali Mahomed Hassam Trust.

Mehboob memorial centre was established in 1989 by the late Abdul Hameed Ali Mahomed.
