Police Officers Cautioned on Confidential Information Management

Police officers in the country have been reminded that successful implementation of community policing activities depend they manage confidentiality of information and intelligence acquired from the public.

Commissioner of Police for the Southern Region Sladge Yoosuf made the remarks when he officially opened the bi-annual community policing review meeting held in Blantyre.

Commissioner Yoosuf said that evidence shows that communities where community members work hand in hand with the police in identifying criminals, crime rate and disorder are reduced.

He therefore commended police stations which are performing well in reducing crimes in the country.

“It is of this background police introduced a trophy which police stations in the region should compete based on the performance,” Yoosuf said

Limbe Police Station emerged the best station in the region going away with a trophy and other prizes.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Bob Mtekama is the officer in-charge of Limbe Police Station and had this to say.
