Court Suggests Elections Case Time frame Change over Parliament

Constitutional court has proposed that the elections case should be held only in the morning on Monday 9th September when parliament will begin meeting.

Judge Hiley Potani has announced the proposal after lawyer of president professor Peter Mutharika Frank Mbeta finished cross examining second witness Mirriam Gwalidi.

Potani asked the parties in the case to think about that proposal and provide their answers before the end of Friday this week.

The court has adjourned the case to Thursday morning when lawyers of Gwalidi will re-examine her.

Mbeta had been cross examining Gwalidi since Wednesday morning after second lawyer of Malawi Electoral Commission Tamanda Chokotho had finished cross examining her.

Chokotho took over from attorney general Kalekeni Kaphale who cross-examined Gwalidi since Tuesday morning.
