Police orders the end of marriages for young girls

The community policing officer for Mangochi police station Inspector Muton Moyo has asked all married girls below 15 years to withdraw from their marriages failure which police will arrest the family.
Moyo said this at Lungwena trading centre during a campaign of ending violence against children in Mangochi district.
He said that “no one is above the constitution therefore perpetrators will face the law.”
Commenting on the matter coordinator for Chowe Net work Chida Kuseli said he is much concerned to see many girls under the age of 15 getting married instead of continuing with their education.
Kuseli added that his organization through Malawi Human Rights Resource Centre will conduct more training for parents in order to eliminate this bad behavior in the area of Traditional Authority Chowe in Mangochi district.
