Reporting to International Bodies Negatively Affect Country-Analyst

Chancellor College based political analyst says though reporting human rights issues to international bodies can help in solving political problems, it has negative impact on economical, social and political aspects.

Dr Mustafa Hussein was speaking to radio Islam a day after former president Dr Joyce Banda and human rights activist Gift Trapence presented reports to international bodies on the happenings in the country.

Dr Banda reported to African Women Leaders Network AWLN the alleged sexual abuses police committed at Msundwe, Mpingu and M’bwatalika whilst Trapence reported government to African Commission on Human and People’s Rights, the alleged human rights violations in the country.

However, Dr Hussein said “though international bodies can help resolve inner issues, it’s important to resort to local means of dealing with some situations especially the Msundwe incident.”

He added that such reports reflect badly on the country.
