UDF President Chooses Running Mate Frank Mwenefumbo

President of UDF Atupele Muluzi has chosen Frank Tumpale Mwenefumbo as his running mate and presented his nomination papers.

Muluzi presentation of the nomination papers has surprised many as rumours had been circulating that he would be the running mate of president professor peter Mutharika since UDF had been supporting DPP in parliament.

Another surprise is the choice of Mwenefumbo who withdrew his claims that he was the president of Alliance for Democracy AFORD.

Speaking Muluzi appealed to UDF supporters to promote investment, agriculture and security among others for Malawi to develop.

Muluzi said in the past five years he has shown that Malawians can work together regardless of political, religious and ethnic groups in order to develop the country.

He said voting for Atupele, Mwenefumbo and UDF is a perfect choice Malawians can make.

Speaking vice president of UDF in eastern region Lilian Patel said they are very happy that Muluzi is presenting nomination papers to Malawi Electoral Commission to contest as president.

Patel said UDF is still powerful as there are many supporters at COMESA Hall in Blantyre.

She expressed optimism that UDF will win in the forthcoming tripartite elections.

former vice president Dr Cassim Chilumpha is expected to present his nomination papers this afternoon.

Chilumpha failed to submit the papers on Monday after Tikonze Peoples Movement in which his party Assembly for Democracy and Development ADD is a member formed a coalition with UTM of Dr Saulos Chilima.
