176 000 Malawians In Need of Palliative Care

Ministry of health says 176 000 are in need of palliative care with about only 54, 458 of the need being met nationally

Principal Secretary of administration Bestone Chisamile has made the remarks as Malawi is commemorating world hospice and palliative care day

Chisamire says palliative care becomes more vital as more people are suffering from chronic and life-threatening health conditions because they experience pain and suffering

According to him there is need to have compassionate communities that can advocate and raise awareness about palliative care issues and connect people to access services.

Chisamile therefore calls on stakeholders to united and raise their voices to advocate for palliative care policies and programs that promote access, care and actively support palliative care.

The theme for this year’s commemoration is compassionate communities: together for palliative care
