Court Adjourns Immigration Director’s Appointment Case

Blantyre high court has adjourned to next year, a case in which one Chikhulupililo Zidana has been challenging the appointment of Brigadier General Charles Kalumo as Director General of Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services.

Zidana contended that the appointment of Director General of Department of Immigration falls under the jurisdiction of Minister of Homeland Security as stipulated in Section 3 of Immigration Act.

Lozindawa Mbvundula lawyer for Zidana said their case remains that Kalumo was illegally appointed given legal provisions for the job.

Meanwhile, Thabo Chakaka Nyirenda Attorney General has argued that Kalumo should meet all requirements of his role.
