Malawi launches tourism investment master plan
President Dr Lazarus Chakwera says government is making strides in creating an enabling environment for the growth of tourism in the country.
Chakwera was speaking when he launched Malawi national tourism Investment Master plan in Lilongwe.
He said the 20 year plan is a compilation of different projects which will promote tourism in selected districts of the country and will among others include the construction of hotels and other tourist’s attraction sites.
Chakwera said Malawi as a country has many tourism sites which if well managed, have potential of turning the country’s economy for the better.
“My government is committed to turn the sites into real industries of tourism,” Chakwera
He also called on investors to establish projects in the country adding his government will support them by among others the provision of good laws.
On the master plan, the president said it is a major milestone for the country, which if realized will promote businesses, including the country’s foreign reserves.
