Traditional Authorities ask government to implement programs that unite chiefs
Traditional authorities in Mangochi have asked government to implement activities that will unite chiefs not divide them
Sultan Chowe made the appeal during a meeting with Minister of civic education and unity Timothy Mtambo in the district.
Chowe said previous governments weakened chiefs through implementation of activities without consulting them
He promised that chiefs will meet their subjects on the peace and unity sustainability.
“We met the minister where we discussed unity among people for the country to develop,” said Sultan Chowe
His counterpart Traditional Authority Makanjira said chiefs are ready to help government in uniting Malawians because they are agents of peace.
In his remarks Mtambo encouraged the chiefs to assist Tonse administration achieve its agenda of promoting co-existence among Malawians.
“Tonse government is promoting unity so that peace prevails in the country” Mtambo said
Recently, during commemoration of international day on unity UN resident coordinator Maria Torres and Mtambo called on Malawians to promote unity and peace
Mtambo disclosed that his ministry will embark on truth and reconciliation project so that Malawians move together in promotion of peace.
