
Malawi’s first foods Africa Initiative launched
Malawi’s first foods Africa Initiative aimed at addressing child food poverty and under nutrition has been launched
Speaking during the launch deputy minister of health Noah Chimpeni said findings of the 2024 Malawi demographic health survey estimate that 76 percent of children aged 6 to 23 months live in food poverty
Chimpeni said the recently approved national multisector nutrition policy for 2025 to 2030 places food systems at the forefront of addressing all forms of malnutrition
UNICEF Malawi chief of nutrition Dr Charity Zvandaziva said government and stakeholders should ensure healthy and nutritious foods are available, accessible and affordable to all Malawians in the market
