CDEDI writes parliament on farm inputs

Centre for Democracy and Economic Development Initiatives (CDEDI) has asked parliamentary committee on agriculture to summon minister of agriculture on preparedness of this year’s affordable inputs program, maize availability and fertilizer prices among others.

In a letter addressed to chairperson of the committee Sameer Suleman, CDED executive director, Sylvester Namiwa, says the ministry is yet to issue a statement but the 2022/23 growing season is just setting in.

Namiwa says, shortly, some parts of the country will start receiving rains, surprisingly, there is a cloud of uncertainty on the future of Affordable Inputs Programme (AIP).

Meanwhile, ministry of agriculture spokesperson, Graciun Lungu says will not comment on AIP issues for now.
